Elio Stocco

Elio is a chemical engineer with over 30 years’ experience in operations and risk management. He has been a Director of R4Risk since 2011 and has extensive experience applying a wide range of risk assessment methods across multiple industries.

Elio’s expertise spans both quantitative and qualitative risk assessments, including HAZOPs, LOPA, safety assessments and safety case development, occupied buildings risk assessments, emergency response planning, fire safety studies and consequence modelling. He has in-depth knowledge of Major Hazard Facility (MHF) regulatory regimes and has provided extensive MHF and Safety Case consulting services to major industrial companies. Elio is also a Specialist Advisor to Comcare, where he has assisted in the assessment and classification of potential MHF sites.

An experienced auditor, Elio has conducted Safety Case audits for MHFs across Australia and is also trained in incident investigation techniques. Earlier in his career, he held operational and process safety roles with Huntsman Chemicals, Esso Australia, and Johnson Matthey.
